When the weather gets nice in New York City, New Yorkers all but move outdoors, spending as much time as possible outside of their cramped apartments.
Bars are no exception, and in the summertime they too move outdoors.
But since outdoor space is at a premium in this bustling metropolis, more and more bars are opening in one of the few outdoor spaces available: rooftops.
These are 10 awesome rooftop bars, according to the editors at Zagat, and they are all over the city. Most of these places are new, but the list also includes some old standbys that are still favorites.
Haven
Sanctuary Hotel, 132 West 47th St.
This rooftop bar, atop the Sanctuary Hotel, offers a surprising oasis in midtown Manhattan.
The 150-seat space offers communal tables, breezy cabanas, DJs spinning hot tunes, and a French-inspired menu.
The Rooftop at NoMad
The NoMad Hotel, 1170 Broadway
The rooftop lounge crowning this luxury hotel designed by renowned Jacques Garcia has yet to open (it's slated to open sometime in the next week or so), but it's already creating a lot of buzz.
The bar is set to include outdoor tables, an enclosed circular cupola that will house a private dining room, and cuisine by Eleven Madison Park's Daniel Humm.

Though the Renaissance New York Hotel 57 has been open for several years, this will be the first summer that the hotel's rooftop bar will make its debut.
With spectacular views of the Chrysler Building and soft, comfy sofas that you can sink into, this will be a hot summer destination.

This Lower East Side restaurant and bar has a stunning rooftop garden, with lounge-style seating, palm trees, and a bubbling fountain.
Tavern 29
Tavern 29 is a Murray Hill bar with a simple, yet fun third-floor open-air deck.
Grab a sausage and one of their many craft brews on tap and head up to the picnic-style tables on the rooftop.
The Ides at The Wythe Hotel

This Williamsburg newbie hotel has a sixth-floor bar that's not technically on the roof, but still offers great views of the Manhattan skyline and a fun hipster scene.
Grill at La Piscine at the Hotel Americano

The rooftop restaurant in Chelsea's Hotel Americano attracts galleristas, club-goers, and trendy fashionistas with its stunning views of the High Line and Empire State Building and its trendy cocktails.
You can also get tasty snacks and meals, like whole grilled fish with bottles of rose.
The Sundeck at Gansevoort Park

This year, the Sundeck at Gansevoort Park will boast some new features--booze-infused snow cones (seriously), glow-in-the-dark ping-pong tables, sleek blue chaise lounges--in addition to all the old features you'd expect from the Gansevoort (trendy cocktails and an even trendier scene).
STK Meatpacking Rooftop
The rooftop lounge in the Meatpacking District's STK is known for its "Sunset Sundays"--a hopping Champagne-fueled brunch party scene that goes from the morning well into the night.
Here you can enjoy views of the Hudson River and Manhattan's west side while sipping on fancy cocktails and nibbling on snacks like lobster mini rolls.
Brooklyn Crab
This simple, laid-back crab shack, a couple blocks away from Ikea in Red Hook, offers great water views.
Be prepared to get messy while you slurp up some oysters and drink a beer.
There will be free shuttle service to and from the F and G stop at the Carroll St. Station--or you could hop on the Ikea ferry.
