We crunched the data to find out how much Amazon Web Services pays its employees in base salary.
AWS is required to disclose the salary data in H-1B visa applications.
So far this year, the cloud giant has already applied for over 1,000 visas for its employees.
Amazon Web Services, the longstanding leader in cloud computing, is still staffing up to keep its cloud business on top of rivals Microsoft and Google.
Building on the growth of its business during the pandemic, when companies rushed to the cloud to support remote work, AWS has mostly maintained that momentum: The cloud unit grew 36.5% year over year last quarter, and brought in $18.44 billion in revenue.
Although AWS does not share how much it pays employees, it is required to disclose salary offers in work-visa applications submitted to the US Office of Foreign Labor Certification. Insider combed data from that office, which authorizes hiring non-US employees and then publicly releases the data.
Notably, the data does not include stock grants that can significantly increase total compensation, but it is a valuable guide to what AWS pays in base salary for a variety of positions. Insider sorted through the hundreds of disclosed salaries that represent engineers, product managers, and more, to find out what the cloud giant is paying now.
The analyzed salaries from the first quarter of 2022 mainly represent workers in Washington state, Texas and California. The highest-paid person in the data set was a technical product manager in California who was offered $193,731, while the lowest-paid person was an external support engineer in Washington state who was offered $54,850. The broad categories are taken from filings by the Office of Foreign Labor Certification, and roles are listed below only if there were at least three candidates.
When you're done checking out the data below, take a look at Insider's Big Tech salary database to see how much Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, and other companies pay their workers.
