Billy Cadden is a coffee fanatic, newly passionate traveler, lover of the outdoors, and general tech enthusiast. Cadden started working at Popular Science in 2017 as the site's commerce editor. Fast forward a few years, and he became the Senior Director of Commerce at Recurrent Ventures, working across their science, tech, outdoors and auto publications. These included Popular Science, Popular Photography, Field & Stream and Outdoor Life. Working across these topics allowed Cadden to test a wide range of products, from home espresso machines to smart home gadgets.
Before joining the world of gear reviews, Cadden was signed to Capitol Records with his band, The Postelles, played on several nationwide tours and released two full-length albums. Since the band broke up, he’s continued as a songwriter, drummer and recording artist, testing out new recording gear and instruments along the way.
Cadden attended the New School in New York City, where he participated in their dual-degree program and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Culture & Media and Media Studies, respectively. While studying, he kept himself caffeinated — and from going broke — by working at La Colombe, where his love of all things coffee bloomed.
