Anders Boisen's parents were shocked when he told them his plan to live off-grid in the forest. He says they were worried he was "deviating from the usual course."
He may be living in the rural countryside, but thanks to Japan's well-connected public transport system, he's never too far away from the city.
"Before, we were moving every few years, so our walls were never painted, and we never hung up pictures," Lawrence Covian told BI.
"It's absolutely dead quiet there. Other than the birds, you don't hear any of their signs of humans," Aaron Monson told BI.
