If you're a grown woman and you love Disney, these are the dresses you've been looking for.
In March 2017, Disney Parks launched a fun, retro collection of dresses for adult fans called The Dress Shop inspired by princesses and park attractions. I heard about the dresses when they were selling out in Orlando, Florida's Disney World that spring.
On a trip to Disney World, I knew I had to seek them out. I quickly learned that finding the dresses was half the battle. They're not in a store called "The Dress Shop." Instead, they're located in a boutique that's part of a number of smaller stores in Walt Disney World's Disney Springs.
If you don't know where to look, it's easy to miss it entirely.
Once you know where to go, you're in Disney dress heaven. Keep reading to see Disney's dress collection and their real-life inspirations.
A few of Disney's adult dresses can be found in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Uptown Jewelers off of Main Street.
I quickly learned that if you're simply looking for a store called "The Dress Shop," you're doing it wrong. The dress collection itself is referred to as the Dress Shop.
But if you're looking for an even larger selection of adult Disney dresses you want to head to Disney Springs' Marketplace Co-Op.
If you're familiar with Disney Springs, it's located in the very east side of the former Downtown Disney area.
Hidden in the very back of a block of retail shops is Cherry Tree Lane, named after the address in "Mary Poppins." That's where you want to go.
The unsuspecting sign and open layout of the Market Co-Op doesn't scream that it's a place to find designer dresses, but it is.
When we spotted a dress in a window display, we knew we were in the right place. Here's where you'll discover gowns from the Dress Shop collection.
Once you're inside, it's a Disney fan's paradise.
The dresses inside are inspired by some of Disney's most iconic characters and princesses along with theme park rides.
The patterned dresses come in colorful hues.
It's not just themed dresses you'll find inside.
You may not recognize the subtle inspiration of "Beauty and the Beast" in this Belle-themed dress. Lining the bottom are books along with outlines of familiar characters from Cogsworth and Lumiere to Mrs. Potts.
It's no longer available.
Each dress ranges in price from $98 to $198 and hangs next to matching accessories that go along with the individual style.
Orange Mickey ears, necklaces, and a "Princess and the Frog" purse are paired with the Orange Bird" dress.
Look closely at the displays and you'll find the inspiration for the different dresses there, too.
An "Alice and Wonderland" dress hangs next to a backpack in the shape of a white rabbit. A necklace in the shape of the rabbit's pocket watch symbolizing the creature's obsession with tardiness is there, too.
Concept art hangs above several of the dresses. Some of the inspiration is obvious.
The concept art describes the piece as "chic," "classic," "fun," and "sweet." That sounds like Minnie, all right.
You can find the dress here.
Upon first glance, you might not realize this dress adorned with apples is a clever nod to "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."
Snow White takes a bite of a poison apple which puts her into a slumber until she's awaken by true love's kiss. The red, pale yellow, and blue colors mimic the hues of Snow's iconic dress.
The dress concept is described as "playful," "abstract," and "whimsical."
You can buy the dress here for $108.
Other dresses are based off theme park rides and attractions like this one inspired by the Hollywood Tower of Terror.
The design for the bellhop-inspired dress is supposed to look "rich" and "classy."
The dress is not available online.
This green sundress is inspired by Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room attraction in Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, and Tokyo Disneyland.
The Enchanted Tiki Room is a musical animatronic show at several Disney theme parks located in Adventureland. Concept art for the dress describes it as "tropical" and "casual."
You can find it here.
There are characters only real Disney fans will know about, such as the Orange Bird.
Orange Bird was created as a mascot for the Florida Citrus Commission back in 1970. Yes, his head is actually the citrus fruit. You can usually spot the bird in Adventureland near the Enchanted Tiki Room.
This dress is no longer available, but there is a newer version of the Orange bird dress.
This is the newer version of the Orange Bird dress released this year.
The little bird can be seen in full on the back of the blue and orange dress. The Dress Shop collection previously had an orange and white dress themed around the bird.
You can buy it here.
If you saw this on the street, you probably wouldn't even know this dress was based off of Disney's "Haunted Mansion" attraction.
The belted dress is supposed to feel "elegant," but "dark" with a "touch of macabre."
You can find the dress here.
The newer tightrope girl two-piece dress and cape is also based off of the Haunted Mansion ride.
A portrait of the tightrope girl can be seen on the Haunted Mansion ride.
You can buy it here.
Yet another dress is based off of the Haunted Mansion's ballroom. It's one of our favorites.
The gigantic ballroom on display during the ride is etched along the skirt of the dress. You can buy it here.
Newer dress designs are also made for children like this Mary Poppins dress which includes penguins and carousel horses.
The dress is inspired by the Jolly Holiday sequence in the 1964 classic.
A "Mary Poppins" sequel is coming in December featuring Emily Blunt as the titular character. You can buy the adult dress here and the children's dress here.
The "Monsters Inc."-themed dress is based on the movies.
"Monsters, Inc." characters Boo, Sully, Mike, George, and Randall are peeking out from doors all over the dress.
You can buy the adult dress here and the girl's dress here.
The Fantasyland dress is themed after the area in Magic Kingdom.
Rides from that area of the park, including the teacups from the Mad Tea Party and "It's a Small World," are featured along the bottom of the dress.
The dress feels a bit like the one Cinderella originally designs to go to the ball before her stepsisters destroy it. You can buy it here.
If you really love the "It's a Small World" boat ride, there's a dress themed just for that attraction.
Look closely at the dress and "goodbye" is written throughout the dress in English, Italian, French, and Danish. You can buy it here.
This dress highlights Disney's Main Street and comes paired with a matching cardigan.
Horses are embroidered on the cardigan. You can buy it here.
The Dress Shop also had a special Americana dress on display for the Fourth of July when we visited.
And there was plenty of merch — and Mickey ears — to match.
It's still available for purchase here.
New dresses are often added to the collection to keep shoppers coming back.
If you can't make it down to Walt Disney World, you can shop the collection online here.
