The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has stood as a cultural force for decades. With events spanning from hundreds of musical artists to crafts, cultural exchange areas, folklife villages, marketplaces, and countless found stalls serving the best New Orleans has to offer, there is no shortage of activities for all to enjoy at this popular local event.
With origins dating back to 1970, the festival was created to be a unique event for New Orleans to take pride in. With its original concept being that of a heritage fair, the event mixed live music and cultural elements that locals and visitors of all ages continue to enjoy. In recent years the festival regularly boasts over 700 musical acts (including over 5,000 musicians). The food also prides itself on “not being carnival food.” Instead, one can expect to find a variety of Louisiana staples, such as jambalaya, crawfish beignets, cochon de lait sandwiches, and alligator sausage po'boys.
