Eight year old girls hangs herself.

Has anybody ever heard of someone this young killing themselves before? A teenager, a *SPAM**SPAM**SPAM**SPAM**SPAM**SPAM**SPAM* even, is understandable to me. But how could an eight year come to the conclusion that killing themselves is the best thing to do?

And this is why I hate bullying so much!

 

The act of suicide is such a complex thing, that to pin it on a single thing (bullying) is to do the person who took their own life an injustice. Believe it or not, some human beings are wired for self-harm - some are drawn to it due to their home environment - some have no emotional defense mechanism against the ravages of the real world, bullying or not - some end up taking their life unintentionally.

That being said, death by suicide for children under 10 years of age is extremely rare - only a handful a year occur in the US. Very sad.

 

thats terrible! I don´t even know where an 8 year old gets an idea like that...thats probably TV these days for you....when i was 8 I probably didn´t even understand or know what suicide was!

 

No I don't believe in all cases it is the only driving factor, but it sure doesn't help. You think of how many hours a child spends in school in one year, then imagine being bullied constantly for that amount of time - you can't tell me that it isn't going to wear a child down. So while it might not be the reason behind it, I'm willing to bet its half of the problem.

 

A child that young doesn't really have a comprehension of the finality of death.
With all the media coverage of bullying and attached suicides, I can't help but wonder if that may have been a curiosity and driving factor in her decision if in fact it was suicide. She wouldn't have really understood that once done that she wouldn't still be able to be around to witness the reactions, and still carry on if suicide was actually her intent.
Also, there is a hanging game that has become quite prevalent in the culture of our youth. I hope she didn't become a victim of this peer driven activity.

 

Something about the police explanation sounds off to me.

The very fact there is little evidence suggests foul play to me. But I'm no expert, and news journalists often get things wrong, so it's impossible to tell.

I'd like to think no 8 year old would have the knowledge and willingness to kill themselves through hanging. I find it hard to believe someone capable of that at such a young age would have the desire to do such a thing. If she did, it is likely that she is copying it from something she has seen, and has not fully understood the consequences of such actions.

What a horrible, tragic story

I for one commend her actions. If only the rest of her kind would follow suit, the world would be a better place.

 

It is horribly tragic. I can't even imagine the devastation that has engulfed this poor family. The doubts they will face and possible blame they may place on each other. I hope they as a family can survive the heartbreak.

You're right. My blood pressure has returned to normal and my instinctual reaction to want to reach out and violently touch someone has returned to the more acceptable lecherous activities we so actively pursue here on XNXX. Thank you for bringing me back from the brink.

 

Can only speak for myself but I found both distasteful so never gave a response to either.

 

I came into the thread late and I like most took no pleasure or acceptance in Azriels post.
My first concern was for the family and posting to the tragedy and like others trying to understand the mindset of someone so young.
Azriel's post was both disturbing and yes repugnant but LIVE6X9EVIL's post was so many times worse and an affront to all things decent about the human condition. One was childish and disrespectful while the other was hateful and malicious. Both deserve our condemnation especially when it involves the loss of a child.
