What is it: Render is a cloud infrastructure platform that aims to provide an alternative to traditional cloud providers such as Amazon's AWS and Microsoft's Azure.

It launched in April 2019 with $2.25 million in seed funding from General Catalyst and the South Park Common Fund in 2019, according to TechCrunch. More recently, the company announced $4.5 million in an extended seed funding round in October, bringing the total raised to $6.75 million. General Catalyst led the round, previous investor South Park Commons Fund participated as well as prominent angels including Lee Fixel, Elad Gil and GitHub CTO and former VP of Engineering at Heroku Jason Warner.

Who is the founder: Anurag Goel was previously an early engineer and Head of Risk at Stripe.
