I'm thrilled to share that Tracy Connor has joined Business Insider as Standards Editor.
In this critical role, Tracy will work with our journalists on questions during the reporting process, final-read sensitive pieces, help train people on standards, work with our legal team, oversee editorial policies, and manage our copy desk, with Kevin Kaplan reporting to her. She will be a great resource for us on all things complicated — which are many.
Tracy is the former editor-in-chief of The Daily Beast, where she began as the executive editor, overseeing an award-winning newsroom of about 70 staffers. Previously, she was a senior reporter for the NBC News Investigations Unit, working on projects for digital and broadcast. Prior to that, she spent 10 years at the New York Daily News as an editor and reporter; she has also worked for the New York Post, United Press International, and a chain of weekly newspapers in Brooklyn.
A graduate of Columbia University and the Coney Island Sideshow School, she lives in Brooklyn with her franken-dog Pearl while her daughter is attending college overseas. Don't say anything bad about Dolly Parton or em-dashes in front of her!
In addition to Tracy's deep bench of newsroom experience, she brings a passion for provocative takes and punchy heds, thoughtfulness on the most nuanced of topics, and a drive for daily excellence, all of which align with our intentions of being a highly-trusted, must-read, must-watch — and fun! — publication for our audience.
